Let's learn the names of the things you see and use every day at school.

Where We Sit: Desks and Chairs

Welcome to the classroom! Every student has a desk and a chair in the room. The desk is the small table where you write and put your books. The chair is where you sit during the lesson. You can also put your backpack on the floor next to your chair, or hang it on the side of your desk.

On the Desk: School Supplies

Look at your desk. What do you see? You need a pencil or a pen to write with. When you make a mistake, you use an eraser to clean it. A ruler helps you draw straight lines. You write new words in your notebook and read your textbook during the lesson. These things are your school supplies, and they all live on your desk.

At the Front: The Board and the Teacher

At the front of the classroom, there is a big board. The teacher writes on the board with special pens so every student can see. The teacher also talks to the class and explains the lesson. The students look at the board, listen carefully, and copy words into their notebooks. The classroom is a happy and busy place when the lesson begins.

After the Bell: Homework Time

When the lesson ends, the bell rings and students take their notebooks and textbooks home. They do homework at their own desk at home, in the kitchen, or in their bedroom. Homework helps you practice what you learn at school. Many students put their finished homework in their backpack. The next morning, they bring it back to the classroom and give it to the teacher.
