We use the present continuous to talk about the weather right now, at this moment. The pattern is simple: it is + adjective for adjective words, or it is + verb-ing for action words.

Form	Example
Positive	It is raining.

Notice: in weather sentences, the subject is always it. The word it here is special. It does not mean a person or a thing. It means "the weather" or "the sky."

Look at these examples carefully:

It is sunny. (adjective — no -ing)
It is hot. (adjective — no -ing)
It is rain + ing. (verb → raining)
It is snow + ing. (verb → snowing)

It is can become it's in speaking. Is not can become isn't. The short forms are more natural in conversation.

إزاي تتكلم عن الطقس في اللحظة الحالية

في الجزء ده، هنتعلم قاعدة present continuous (المضارع المستمر) بس هنبص عليها من زاوية الطقس. النمط بسيط جداً: بنبدأ دايماً بكلمة it وبعدها is، وبعدين يا إما صفة يا إما فعل بينتهي بـ -ing.

الـ subject دايماً "it" في جمل الطقس

لاحظ إن كلمة it في جمل الطقس مش بتشاور على شخص أو حاجة معينة. هي كلمة خاصة معناها "الجو" أو "السما". يعني مفيش فاعل حقيقي قبلها، it هنا مجرد placeholder بياخد مكان الطقس.

النمط الأساسي

1) مع الصفات (adjectives): بتستخدم it is + adjective من غير أي حاجة زيالة. مثلاً:

It is sunny. (الجو مشمس)
It is hot. (الجو حر)
It is cold. (الجو برد)

2) مع الأفعال (verbs): لو عايز تقول إن حاجة بتحصل فعلاً دلوقتي، بتاخد الفعل وبتزودله -ing:

It is raining. (بيتمطر)
It is snowing. (بيثلج)
It is hailing. (بتيجي برد)

الصيغ المختلفة اللي هتقابلك

Positive (إيجابي): It is raining.
Contracted (مختصر): It's raining.
Negative (منفي كامل): It is not snowing.
Short negative (منفي مختصر): It isn't snowing.

الشكل المختصر زي it's و isn't هو اللي بيتقال في الكلام العادي، وفي الامتحان أو الكلام الرسمي بنستخدم الشكل الكامل.

الـ -ing تدل على اللحظة الحالية

لما تشوف الفعل بينتهي بـ -ing زي raining أو snowing، اعرف إن المعنى "دلوقتي في اللحظة دي". لو قلت مثلاً It rains a lot ده معناه بشكل عام، لكن It is raining معناه دلوقتي بالظبط.

إيه اللي تدور عليه في التمارين

في التمارين اللي جاية، هتلاقي جمل محتاجة تكملها بـ is و isn't، وجمل تانية لازم ترتبها صح. خلي بالك من الفرق بين الصفة زي sunny والفعل بـ -ing زي raining، دول مش قابلين للتبادل. كمان ركز على الـ contraction عشان تتعود على الشكل الطبيعي في المحادثة.

Set the scene: It is Saturday morning. Sara and Tom are at a coffee shop. They look out the window at the sky. They talk about the weather and their plans for the day.

Before you listen, think: What is the weather like today where you are? Is it sunny, cloudy, or rainy?

You will hear a short conversation between Sara and Tom. Listen for the weather words: cloudy, raining, cold, windy, sunny, hot. After the conversation, you will answer three questions: one about the main idea, one about a specific fact, and one with a missing word.

التحية (Greeting)

أول حاجة سارة بتقول Hi Tom! How are you today? وتوم Hi Sara! I'm good, thanks. دي طريقة ودّية بتفتح بيها أي محادثة. ممكن تقول كمان I'm great أو I'm fine, thank you.

كلمات الطقس (Weather Vocabulary)

في الحوار هنسمع كلمات أساسية زي:

cloudy يعني السما فيها غيوم
raining يعني بتمطر
cold يعني برد
windy يعني فيه هوا قوي
sunny يعني شمس
hot يعني حرارة عالية

جملة Look at the sky

توم بيقول Look at the sky وده معناه بصّ على السما. هنا بيستخدم Look at + object عشان يلفت الانتباه لحاجة معيّنة.

زمن المضارع المستمر (Present Continuous)

لما توم يقول It isn't raining now بيستخدم زمن Present Continuous عشان يتكلم عن حاجة بتحصل في اللحظة دي. الصيغة: am/is/are + verb-ing. مثلاً: It is raining يعني بتمطر دلوقتي.

الجملة المستقبلية (Will)

توم بيقول I think it will rain later وبيستخدم will عشان يتكلم عن حاجة ممكن تحصل بعدين. الصيغة سهلة: subject + will + verb. مثلاً: It will be sunny tomorrow.

أسئلة الذيل (Tag Questions)

سارة بتقول It is cold today, isn't it? وده اسمه tag question. جملة خبرية في الأول، وسؤال قصير في الآخر. القاعدة: لو الجملة الأولى positive، التاج بيبقى negative والعكس صحيح:

التعبير عن الإعجاب (Likes and Dislikes)

سارة بتقول I don't like cold weather. I like hot and sunny days. وده بيعلّمنا إزاي نعبر عن اللي بنحبه. الصيغة:

I like + noun (بحب + الشيء)
I don't like + noun (مش بحب + الشيء)

الحوار ده بسيط بس فيه قواعد كتير مفيدة. مع الممارسة هتقدر تتكلم عن الطقس بثقة!

This lesson focuses on the short /ɪ/ sound. This sound is in many weather words, like is, it, and windy. To make /ɪ/, relax your mouth. Open your lips a little. Put your tongue at the bottom of your mouth, just behind your bottom teeth. Your voice is on. The sound is short and quick.

The /ɪ/ sound is NOT the long /iː/ sound. The /iː/ sound is in "see" and "green." It is longer, and your mouth is more closed and smiling. The /ɪ/ sound is shorter, and your mouth is more open and relaxed.

الصوت القصير /ɪ/ في الإنجليزي

يا صديقي، النهاردة هنتعلم صوت مهم جداً في اللغة الإنجليزي، وهو صوت الـ short i أو اللي بيتكتب /ɪ/. الصوت ده موجود في كلمات كتير جداً بنستخدمها كل يوم، خصوصاً في موضوع الطقس اللي احنا فيه.

إزاي بتعمل الصوت ده بفيزيك؟

عشان تعمل الصوت ده صح، اتبع الخطوات دي:

فكّك شفايفك شوية وخليها مفتوحة ومرتخية، متبقاش متوتر
لسانك يكون تحت في قاع بقك، ورا أسنانك السفلية مباشرة، مش متقفل لحد فوق
صوتك يفضل شغال — يعني الحبال الصوتية بتتحرك (الـ vocal cords)
الـ result: صوت قصير وسريع مش طويل

مثال واضح على كده كلمة is — الصوت اللي في أولها هو الـ /ɪ/ اللي بنتكلم عنه. جرّب تقول "iz" ولاحظ إن لسانك قاعد في وضع مرتاح ومفتوح.

الفرق الجوهري بين /ɪ/ و /iː/

دي أهم نقطة عشان متغلطش:

/ɪ/ (short i): قصير، الفم مفتوح ومرتخي. موجود في is وit وwindy.
/iː/ (long ee): طويل، الفم أكثر مقفول وفيه شوية ابتسامة. موجود في see وgreen وeat.

يعني لما تقول it (شورت)، متقولهاش زي eat (لونج). الفرق كبير جداً.

كلمات الطقس اللي فيها الصوت ده

في الدرس بتاعنا عن الطقس، أغلب الكلمات فيها الصوت اللطيف ده:

is — زي جملة "It is sunny"
it — أول كلمة في "It is windy today"
sunny — الصوت في آخر الكلمة
windy — الصوت في نص الكلمة
rainy — الصوت في الآخر
cloudy — الصوت في الآخر

نصيحة عملية

لما تيجي تقول "It is sunny"، ركّز إن الـ i في it والـ i في is تبقى قصيرة ومرتخية. متقولش "eet ees sonny" — دي غلطة شائعة عند اللي بيتعلموا. خلي الفم مفتوح، واللسان تحت، والصوت قصير، وهتلاقي نطقك طبيعي جداً.

اسمع للنطق في التمرين وكرّر ورا المتحدث، وركّز على الفرق بين it وeat عشان تتحكم في الصوت صح.

Strategy: Skimming. When you read, look at the title first. Then read the first sentence. This is the topic sentence. The topic sentence tells you the main idea. Do not read every word. Read quickly to get the general idea. This is called skimming.

Pre-taught key words:

sunny: the sun is in the sky
rainy: water falls from clouds
cold: low temperature
hot: high temperature

يا بطل، تعال نعرف مع بعض إيه هي استراتيجية الـ skimming وإزاي نستخدمها صح.

إيه هو الـ Skimming؟

الـ skimming ده أسلوب قراءة سريع بنستخدمه لما نحب نفهم الفكرة العامة من أي نص من غير ما نقرأ كل كلمة فيه. الفكرة بسيطة جداً: أول حاجة بتبص على الـ title (العنوان)، وبعدين بتقرأ أول جملة بس. الجملة الأولى دي اسمها topic sentence، وهي اللي بتقولك إيه الموضوع الرئيسي بتاع النص.

إيه اللي جاي في الخطوة الجاية؟

في الخطوة الجاية، هتلاقي بوست قصير لبنت اسمها Maya، وهي بتكتب عن الـ weather النهاردة في مدينتها. المطلوب منك إنك تعمل skim للبوست ده، يعني تقرأ بسرعة عشان تاخد فكرة عامة، مش تركز في كل كلمة.

الكلمات اللي اتعلمتها

خلينا نراجع الكلمات المهمة اللي اتعلمتها قبل ما نبدأ نقرأ:

today: معناها "النهاردة" أو "اليوم ده". مثال: Today is sunny.

لما تقرأ بوست Maya، بص على العنوان الأول، وبعدين اقرأ أول جملة. دور على الكلمات المفتاحية زي sunny أو cold أو rainy عشان تفهم الجو عندها عامل إزاي. متقلقش من أي كلمة مش عارفها دلوقتي، خلي الـ skimming يديك الصورة الكبيرة بسرعة.

بعد ما تخلص، هنرجع نقرأ النص تاني بالتفاصيل عشان نفهم كل حاجة. بس دلوقتي، خد نفس عميق وابدأ skim!

النهاردة هنتعلم حاجة بسيطة بس مفيدة جدا - إزاي نسأل ونجاوب عن الجو بالإنجليزي. الموضوع ده هتستخدمه كل يوم مع ناس كتير، سواء أصحابك أو زمايلك في الشغل.

في المحادثة اللي فاتت، توم سأل سارة: "Hi Sara! How is the weather today?" ومعناها "إزاي الجو النهاردة يا سارة؟" دي أول جملة لازم تحفظها عشان تفتح بيها أي كلام عن الطقس. خلي بالك إن "the weather" هي كلمة "الجو" بالإنجليزي، و"today" يعني "النهاردة".

بعد كده توم سأل سؤال قصير: "Is it hot?" يعني "الجو حر؟" وزيه "Is it windy?" يعني "في رياح؟" الإجابة على الأسئلة دي بسيطة جدا - إما "Yes, it is" لو الإجابة أيوه، أو "No, it isn't" لو الإجابة لأ. خلي بالك إن "isn't" هي اختصار لـ "is not"، ولاحظ إن الإجابة النافية بتستخدم "is" كاملة في الآخر، مش اختصار.

نقطة مهمة: في الإنجليزي العادي، الناس بتختصر "it is" وبتقول "It's raining" بدل "It is raining". ده بيخلي كلامك يبان طبيعي أكتر، بس في المواقف الرسمية استخدم الشكل الكامل.

النصيحة: لما تتكلم، خلي جملك قصيرة وواضحة. ابدأ بجملة وصف زي "It is sunny today" وبعدين جاوب على الأسئلة بـ "Yes, it is" أو "No, it isn't". كده هتحس بثقة وأنت بتتكلم، وهتبدأ تربط الأسئلة بالأجوبة بشكل طبيعي.

Today we learn words for weather. Weather is what the sky and the air are like outside. When you look up, you can see clouds, the sun, or rain. The weather can change every day. Sometimes it is hot. Sometimes it is cold. Sometimes it rains. Sometimes the sun shines. We use these words every day to talk about life.

Here are seven common weather words for this lesson:

الأفعال (Verbs)

لو الكلمة كانت فعل (يعني وصف لحاجة بتحصل دلوقتي)، بنضيف -ing في آخرها:

snowing = بييجي من snow (تلج) → "It is snowing" يعني بيتلج
raining = من rain (مطر) → "It is raining" يعني بيمطر

نصيحة للكلام

جرّب تجمع أكتر من كلمة في جملة واحدة عشان توصف الجو بالتفصيل. مثلاً:

"It is sunny and warm today" (النهارده مشمس ودافي)
"It is cold and windy" (الجو برد وفيه هوا)
"It is cloudy but not raining" (السما غايم بس مش بيمطر)
