Now you know the names of kitchen items. The next step is to say what you can cook. English speakers use the verb can to talk about skills. The structure is simple: subject + can + verb. For example, I can cook rice or I can make soup. Use cook with general things (cook rice, cook eggs) and make with the name of a specific dish (make pasta, make a sandwich).

Here are some useful phrases for talking about cooking:

  • Can you cook? — a common question.
  • I can cook a little. — if you are a beginner.
  • I can make … — for a specific dish.
  • I like cooking. — to say you enjoy it.
  • I use a … to make … — to explain how you cook.
  • I can't cook … — for things you do not make.

Listen to the short dialogue between Emma and Tom. They ask and answer questions about cooking. Notice the questions they use: Can you cook? and What do you use to make …? The answers use can, like, and use. After you listen, you will speak the same sentences yourself. Then you will have a real conversation with a friend about your cooking skills.

Try to use at least two kitchen items from Section 1 when you speak, for example pan or pot. The more words you use, the more natural you sound. Do not worry about mistakes — every cook makes mistakes in the kitchen, and every English learner makes mistakes too!

نتكلم عن الطبخ بالإنجليزي

في الجزء ده هنتعلم إزاي تقول للراجل بتاعك في الإجليزي "أنا أعرف أطبخ" أو "مش عارف أعمل مكرونة". الفكرة كلها مبنية على فعل صغير لكنه مهم جداً: can.

القاعدة الأساسية: can + verb

لما تحب تتكلم عن مهارتك في حاجة، استخدم can قبل الفعل. التركيبة دايماً: subject + can + verb.

  • I can cook rice. (أنا أعرف أطبخ رز)
  • She can make pasta. (هي تعرف تعمل مكرونة)
  • He can't cook eggs. (هو مش بيعرف يطبخ بيض)

لو حبيت تنفي، بتفضل can't (can not) في النفي.

الفرق بين cook و make

النقطة دي بتلخبط كتير من الناس، بس الموضوع سهل:

  • Cook بنستخدمها مع الأكل العام، يعني المادة نفسها: cook rice (رز), cook eggs (بيض), cook chicken (فراخ).
  • Make بنستخدمها مع أكلة محددة أو وصفة معينة: make pasta (مكرونة), make a sandwich (ساندوتش), make soup (شوربة).

جُمل هتحتاجها في المحادثة

  • Can you cook? — "إنت بتعرف تطبخ؟" سؤال بسيط وبتدخل بيه أي محادثة.
  • I can cook a little. — "أنا بعرف أطبخ شوية" لو لسه بتتعلم.
  • I like cooking. — "أنا بحب الطبخ" عشان تقول إنك بتستمتع بيه.
  • I use a … to cook/make … — عشان تشرح إزاي بتطبخ، مثلاً: I use a pan to cook eggs (أنا بدّيه مقلة عشان أطبخ بيض).
  • I can't make pasta. Can you teach me? — "مش عارف أعمل مكرونة. ممكن تعلمني؟"

إزاي تسأل صح

في محادثة عن الطبخ هتلاقي أغلب الأسئلة بسيطة جداً:

  • Can you cook? — "إنت بتعرف تطبخ؟"
  • What do you use to cook rice? — "بتستخدم إيه عشان تطبخ رز؟"

خلاصة في سطرين

أولاً: استخدم can لما تتكلم عن مهارتك. ثانياً: افهم الفرق بين cook (للأكل العام) و make (لأكلة محددة). لو حفظت الجُمل اللي فوق وكتبت جملة واحدة بس عن حاجة بتعرف تعملها في المطبخ، هتلاقي إنك بتتكلم بثقة وطبيعية.

In every kitchen you can find things to cook with and things to eat from. We call these kitchen items. Some are small tools you hold in your hand, like a knife or a spoon. Others are big machines that stay in one place, like an oven or a fridge. Knowing these words helps you talk about cooking in English.

Look at the table below. Each word is a noun. Read the example sentence to see how we use the word in real English.

Word Type Example
knife noun I cut the bread with a knife.
pan noun I cook eggs in a pan.
pot noun The soup is in the pot.
plate noun Put the food on a plate.
spoon noun I eat soup with a spoon.
oven noun The chicken is in the oven.
fridge noun The milk is in the fridge.
cooker noun I have a new cooker.

We can put the words in two groups. Tools are things you hold in your hand: knife, pan, pot, spoon. Machines stay in the kitchen and do the work for you: oven, fridge, cooker. A plate is different — it is a flat dish that you put food on.

When you talk about cooking, a very common sentence is I use a [item] to [verb]. For example: I use a pan to cook eggs. The verb cook is used with general things (cook rice, cook eggs). You can also use make with the name of a dish: I make pasta.

At home, look around your kitchen. Can you find a knife, a plate, and a spoon? Can you see a fridge or an oven? Practising with real objects helps you remember new English words faster.

كل الناس بتحب الطبخ، بس عشان تقدر تتكلم عن الطبخ بالإنجليزي لازم تعرف أسماء الأدوات اللي في المطبخ. في القسم ده هنتعلم كلمات أساسية عن أدوات المطبخ وهنقسّمها لمجموعات عشان تبقى سهلة.

أولاً: الأدوات (Tools)

دي الحاجات اللي بتمسكها في إيدك وأنت بتطبخ أو بتاكل:

  • knife - سكين، وبتقول "I cut the bread with a knife"
  • spoon - ملعقة، وبتقول "I eat soup with a spoon"
  • pan - مقلاة صغيرة وعميقة شوية، وبتقول "I cook eggs in a pan"
  • pot - قدر كبير، وبتقول "The soup is in the pot"

ثانياً: الأجهزة (Machines)

دي حاجات ثابتة في المطبخ وبتشتغل بالكهرباء أو الغاز:

  • oven - فرن، بتقول "The chicken is in the oven"
  • fridge - ثلاجة، بتقول "The milk is in the fridge"
  • cooker - البوتاجاز أو الموقد، بتقول "I have a new cooker"

ثالثاً: حاجة مختلفة خالص

  • plate - طبق، وده مش أداة ومش جهاز، ده مكان بتتحط فيه الأكل لما تخلص طبخ.

جملة مهمة جداً لازم تحفظها

لما تتكلم عن الطبخ في الإنجليزي، فيه جملة بسيطة بتتكترر في كل المواقف:

I use a [thing] to [verb].

يعني:

  • I use a pan to cook eggs.
  • I use a knife to cut onions.

لاحظ إن الفعل cook بيتستخدم مع الأكل بشكل عام زي cook rice أو cook chicken. لكن لما بتتكلم عن أكلة معيّنة زي pasta أو cake، بنستخدم make:

  • I make pasta every Friday.
