Welcome to the Unit 6 Review! This unit was all about places in town. You learned the names of common places like the bank, the post office, the hospital, the restaurant, the café, the park, the library, the supermarket, the bus station, and the hotel. You use these words every day to talk about your city or town.

You also learned prepositions of place to say where things are. Look at this small table:

next to The café is next to the bank.
between The park is between the school and the hospital.
across from The hotel is across from the museum.
on the corner of The pharmacy is on the corner of Main Street.
on The library is on Park Street.

You learned how to give directions to a place. You can say: Go straight. Turn left or Turn right. Go past the supermarket. Take the first street on the right. It is on your left.

Writing task: Write a short message to a friend. Give directions from the bus station to your apartment. Use 4 to 6 sentences.

Using AND and BUT: When you write, connect your ideas. Use and to add information: 'Go straight and turn left.' Use but to show a problem: 'The bank is on Main Street, but it is closed today.'

الأماكن اللي اتعلمتها في الوحدة اتعلمت أسماء أماكن كتير بنستخدمها في حياتنا اليومية، زي:

  • post office - مكتب البريد
  • hospital - المستشفى
  • restaurant - المطعم
  • café - الكافيه
  • park - الحديقة
  • library - المكتبة
  • supermarket - السوبر ماركت
  • bus station - محطة الأتوبيس
  • hotel - الفندق

حروف الجر بتاعة المكان (Prepositions of Place) الجزء المهم هنا هو إزاي تقول المكان فين بالظبط. اتعلمت خمس حروف جر أساسيين بيوصفوا الموقع:

  • next to - جنب / على طول. مثلاً: The café is next to the bank (الكافيه جنب البنك).
  • between - بين حاجتين. مثلاً: The park is between the school and the hospital (الحديقة بين المدرسة والمستشفى).
  • across from - على الناحية التانية من الشارع. مثلاً: The hotel is across from the museum (الفندق قبال المتحف).
  • on the corner of - على ناصية شارع. مثلاً: The pharmacy is on the corner of Main Street (الصيدلية على ناصية شارع Main).
  • on - على شارع معين. مثلاً: The library is on Park Street (المكتبة على شارع Park).

إزاي تدي directions (توصيات للمكان) اتعلمت كمان عبارات بتساعدك تقول لحد إزاي يروح لمكان معين. خلي بالك من الترتيب:

  • Go straight - امشي على طول.
  • Turn left / Turn right - لف شمال / لف يمين.
  • Go past the supermarket - عدّي السوبر ماركت (يعني عدي من جنبه).
  • Take the first street on the right - خد أول شارع على اليمين.
  • It is on your left - هو على شمالك.

المهمة الكتابية (Writing Task) المطلوب منك تكتب رسالة قصيرة لصاحبك تشرحله فيها إزاي يوصل من محطة الأتوبيس (bus station) لشقتك. استخدم من 4 لـ 6 جمل. حاول تربط الجمل ببعض باستخدام and لما تضيف معلومة جديدة، واستخدم but لما يكون فيه مشكلة، زي إن مكان مقفول أو محتاج تلف أكتر.

مثال بسيط يوضّح الفكرة: "Go straight and turn left. The supermarket is on your right. Go past the park. The apartment is next to the café, but the café is closed today."

خد وقتك، ارجع للـ review cards لو محتاج تفتكر أي كلمة، وبعدين جرب تكتب الرسالة بنفسك.

PREPARE: Before you write, get your ideas ready. Think about your home. What street is it on? What is next to your home? What is across from your home? List 3 to 4 places near your home. This is your plan for the writing task.

WRITE: Write a short message to a friend. Give directions from the bus station to your home. Use 4 to 6 sentences. Remember to use: places in town, prepositions (next to, between, across from, on), and direction words (turn left, turn right, go straight, go past).

REVIEW: After you write, read your message again. Check:

  • Did you use 2 or more places in town?
  • Did you use prepositions of place?
  • Did you use direction words?
  • Did you use and or but to connect ideas?
  • Did you start each sentence with a capital letter?
  • Did you put a period (.) at the end?
