When you meet a friend, you can ask about their health. These short phrases will help you talk about how you feel today. They are simple, polite, and very common in everyday English.

Here are the most useful phrases for this topic:

  • "How are you today?" — a friendly way to ask about health right now.
  • "I feel well, thank you." — a good answer when you are healthy.
  • "I feel ill." — a simple way to say you are sick.
  • "I am tired." — a common answer after a long day.
  • "I have a headache." — for a specific problem.
  • "I feel better now." — when you are getting well.
  • "How do you feel?" — another common way to ask.

We usually answer with "I feel + adjective" or "I am + adjective." Both are correct. After "I am well" we often add "thank you" — this is polite in English. In a real conversation, you ask first, then listen to the other person, then give your own answer. Watch the short dialogue between Emma and Tom below, and notice the order: question, short answer, follow-up question, and a kind word at the end.

في الدرس ده هنتعلم إزاي نتكلم عن حالتنا الصحية بالإنجليزي. الموضوع بسيط وسهل، بس مهم جدًا، خصوصًا لما تقابل حد وتسأله إزاي عامله.

السؤال عن الصحة

في طريقتين شائعتين تسأل بيهم:

  • How are you today? — يعني "إزيك النهارده؟" وده الأكثر استخدامًا.
  • How do you feel? — يعني "حاسس بإيه؟" ودي بتركز أكتر على الإحساس.

الإجابة: I feel ولا I am؟

دي النقطة اللي بتلخبط المبتدئين. في الإنجليزي عندك صورتين:

  • I feel + صفة — زي I feel tired أو I feel well
  • I am + صفة — زي I am tired أو I am well

الاتنين صح، بس في فرق بسيط. I feel بتقول إن الإحساس ده مؤقت، يعني مش دايمًا كده. I am بتوصف الحالة بشكل أعم. لما تقابل حد، I feel + adjective بتكون أكتر طبيعية.

أهم الكلمات والصفات

  • tired = تعبان
  • well = كويس أو بصحة جيدة
  • ill = مريض
  • better = أحسن (لما بتتحسن)
  • headache = صداع

جملة مهمة: I have a headache

لما عايز تقول إن عندك صداع أو مشكلة صحية معينة، بنستخدم have مش feel. فتقول:

  • I have a headache. = عندي صداع ✅
  • I feel a headache. ❌ — دي غلط تمامًا.

نفس القاعدة مع a cold أو a stomachache، بنقول I have a cold مش I feel a cold.

ترتيب المحادثة الطبيعية

أي محادثة عن الصحة بتمشي بالترتيب ده:

  1. تسأل: How are you today?
  2. الشخص يجاوب: I feel tired. I have a headache.
  3. تبدي تهتم: I am sorry. Are you ill?
  4. يطمّنك: No, I am not ill. I feel better now.
  5. ترد بفرح: That is good! I feel well today.

ده هو الإيقاع الطبيعي: سؤال، إجابة صريحة، سؤال متابعة، وكلمة لطيفة في الآخر.

نصيحة أخيرة

لما حد يقولك How are you?، متنساش تضيف thank you بعد الإجابة. زي: I feel well, thank you. ده بيخلي كلامك مؤدب وطبيعي زي الناس الأصلية.

Listen to Emma and Tom talk about how they feel today.

  1. E
Emma Hi Tom! How are you today?
  2. T
Tom I feel tired. I have a headache.
  3. E
Emma I am sorry. Are you ill?
  4. T
Tom No, I am not ill. I feel better now.
  5. E
Emma That is good! I feel well today.

When you want to talk about your health or your feelings, you use simple words about the body and the mind. English speakers often ask "How are you?" when they meet you, but a more direct question is "How do you feel today?" Today, we will learn eight common words for feeling good and feeling bad.

Look at the table below. The words feel, well, ill, tired, happy, today, better, and headache are very common when you talk about your health in everyday English.

Word Type Meaning Example
feel verb to have a feeling in your body or mind I feel tired today.
well adjective healthy, not ill She is well today.
ill adjective not healthy, sick He is ill.
tired adjective needing rest or sleep The child is tired.
happy adjective a good feeling in your mind I am happy today.
today adverb/noun this day I feel fine today.
better adjective more well than before I feel better now.
headache noun pain in your head I have a headache.

Notice the grammar: we say "I feel + adjective." Not "I am feel." We also say "I have a headache" — not "I have headache." With most of these words, both "feel" and "be" work: "I am tired" means the same as "I feel tired." Use "feel" when you want to talk about right now, this moment.

الكلام عن صحتك وشعورك

في الدرس ده هنتعلم كلمات إنجليزي بسيطة بتستخدمها لما حد يسألك عن صحتك أو مزاجك. الكلمات دي أساسية جداً وهتستخدمها كل يوم في المحادثات العادية، زي لما حد يقولك "How are you?" أو "How do you feel today?".

الفعل feel

كلمة feel معناها "تحس" أو "تشعر بـ". دي فعل مهم جداً في الإنجليزي وبنستخدمه لما نتكلم عن إحساسنا الجسدي أو النفسي.

القاعدة المهمة: بنقول "I feel + adjective" ومينفعش أبداً نقول "I am feel".

  • I feel tired ✓
  • I am feel tired ✗

الصفات اللي بنستخدمها (Adjectives)

  • I have a headache ✓ (عندي صداع)
  • I have headache ✗

مثال كامل: "I feel tired today, but I am happy. I have a headache too."

feel ولا be؟

الصفات دي (tired, happy, well, ill, better) بتنفع مع الاتنين:

  • "I am tired" = أنا تعبان (حالة عامة)
  • "I feel tired" = حاسس إني تعبان دلوقتي (اللحظة دي)

نصيحة: استخدم feel لما تحب تركز على إحساسك في اللحظة الحالية، واستخدم be لو بتوصف حالة عامة.

مثال يجمع كل حاجة: "I feel tired today, but I am happy."
