Lesson Review

15 cards

In this unit, you learned many useful words for shopping. You can talk about stores, prices, money, and things you want to buy. You also learned how to compare two things using comparatives like cheaper, more expensive, bigger, and smaller.

Look at the table to review the shopping words:

English Meaning
store a place to buy things
price how much something costs
cheap not expensive
expensive costs a lot of money
buy to get something with money
sell to give something for money

You also learned the question "How much is it?" to ask about price. The answer uses "It is ___ dollars." or "It costs ___ dollars."

For comparatives, remember: short words add -er (cheap → cheaper, big → bigger). Long words use more (expensive → more expensive). Use than to compare: "This bag is cheaper than that bag."

Writing task: Write a short message to a friend about your favorite store. Say what the store sells, what is cheap there, and what is more expensive than at other stores. Use 3-4 sentences.

Using capital letters: Start every sentence with a capital letter. Use capital letters for the names of stores (like Walmart or Target).

في المطاعم والمحلات لما عايز تعرف الحاجة بكام، السؤال السحري هو "How much is it?" . والإجابة بتبقى بإحدى طريقتين: "It is ten dollars."

(Comparatives)

  • cheap → cheaper (أرخص)
  • big → bigger (أكبر)
  • small → smaller (أصغر)
  • expensive → more expensive (أغلى)
  • beautiful → more beautiful (أحلى)

المثال الشهير بتاعنا: "This bag is cheaper than that bag."

WRITE — Now write a short message to a friend about your favorite store. Use 3-4 sentences. Try to use 'How much is it?' or 'It costs ___ dollars' for prices. Try to use comparatives like 'cheaper than' or 'more expensive than'. Start every sentence with a capital letter.

REVIEW — Read your message again. Check these things: Did you start every sentence with a capital letter? Did you use 'cheaper than' or 'more expensive than' correctly? Did you write the price with 'dollars'?
