The Story

The Lost Kitten

One morning, Lucy goes into the garden. It is sunny and warm. She sees something under the big tree. It is a small kitten. The kitten is very small and very scared.

"Hello, little one," says Lucy. "Are you lost?"

The kitten looks at Lucy. It has white fur and blue eyes. Lucy picks it up gently. She takes the kitten inside. She gives it some milk and a soft towel. The kitten drinks the milk. It feels safe now.

The next day, Lucy takes the kitten back to the garden. She wants to find its home. She walks through the street. An old woman comes out of a house.

"Is this your kitten?" asks Lucy.

"Yes! Oh, thank you!" says the old woman. "Her name is Snow. She ran away yesterday."

Lucy smiles. She gives the kitten to the old woman. The old woman is very happy.

"Thank you for helping Snow," says the old woman.

"You're welcome," says Lucy. She walks home. She feels very happy.
