Welcome to the Unit 3 Review! In this unit, you learned three important things: animal vocabulary, the verb have / has to talk about things you own, and comparatives to compare two animals.

First, let's think about animals. You met many animal words, like cat, dog, bird, fish, rabbit, horse, monkey, tiger, elephant and lion. Some animals are pets, like cats and dogs. Other animals are wild, like tigers and elephants. You also learned words for body parts — tail, legs, wings and fur — so you can describe animals.

Next, you practised have and has. We use have with I, you, we and they. We use has with he, she and it. For example: I have a dog. She has a cat. They have a rabbit.

After that, you learned comparatives. We use comparatives to compare two animals. Short adjectives add -er (tall → taller). Adjectives ending in -y change to -ier (happy → happier). Long adjectives use more (dangerous → more dangerous). We often use than after the comparative: A horse is bigger than a rabbit.

Your writing task

Write a short text about your favourite animal. Compare it with another animal.

Using comparatives with than

When you write about two animals, use comparatives with than:

  • My cat is smaller than your dog.
  • Tigers are more dangerous than cats.
  • A rabbit is faster than an elephant.

You can also use have / has to say what the animal has. In the next steps, you will review the grammar and vocabulary, then prepare and write your text.

ثانياً: الفرق بين have و has

الفعل ده بنستخدمه لما نقول عندنا حاجة أو عند حد تاني حاجة:

  • have بنستخدمها مع: I, you, we, they.
  • has بنستخدمها مع: he, she, it.

مثلا:

  • I have a dog. (أنا عندي كلب)
  • She has a cat. (هي عندها قطة)
  • They have a rabbit. (هم عندهم أرنب)
  • My horse has a long tail. (حصاني عنده ذيل طويل)

ثالثاً: المقارنة - Comparatives

الـ comparatives بنستخدمها لما نقارن بين حيوانين، والقاعدة بسيطة:

  • الصفات القصيرة بنضيفلها -er زي tall → taller.
  • الصفات اللي بتنتهي بـ y بنشيل الـ y ونضيف -ier زي happy → happier.
  • الصفات الطويلة بنحط قبلها more زي dangerous → more dangerous.

دايماً بنحط than بعد الصفة:

  • A horse is bigger than a rabbit. (الحصان أكبر من الأرنب)
  • A rabbit is faster than an elephant. (الأرنب أسرع من الفيل)
  • Tigers are more dangerous than cats. (النمور أخطر من القطط)

مهمة الكتابة

دلوقتي المطلوب منك تكتب نص قصير عن حيوانك المفضل وتقارنه بحيوان تاني. استخدم have أو has عشان تقول إيه عند الحيوان، واستخدم comparative مع than عشان تقارن. مثال: My cat is smaller than your dog, but my cat has longer fur. جرّب الكروت اللي تحت الأول، وبعدين ابدأ اكتب - إنت قادر!
