The Rainy Day Picnic

The family wakes up early on Saturday morning. Today is the day of their picnic in the park.

"Mum, can we go now?" asks Tom.

"Wait a moment," says Mum. "I need to finish the sandwiches."

Dad puts all the food in a big basket. There are sandwiches, apples, cheese and some juice. The children are very excited.

They walk to the park. The sky is blue and the sun is warm. They find a nice spot under a big tree.

Suddenly, the sky becomes dark.

"It's going to rain!" shouts Dad.

Big drops of rain start to fall. Everyone runs home quickly.

When they arrive, they are wet and cold.

"Don't be sad," says Mum. "We can have our picnic here. In the living room!"

The children laugh. They put a blanket on the floor. Mum brings the basket. They eat their sandwiches and drink their juice.

The rain falls outside, but inside the family is happy.

"This is fun!" says Tom. "Let's do this again!"

And so they did. Every rainy Saturday, the family had an indoor picnic.
