When you visit a doctor, you need some useful phrases. First, the doctor asks 'What's the matter?' to find out your problem. You tell the doctor how you feel — for example, 'I have a headache' or 'I have a fever'. The doctor listens, then gives you simple advice. The advice is often: 'Take this medicine', 'You should rest', or 'Drink lots of water'.

These short phrases help you talk to a doctor in English. You do not need long sentences. Start with 'I have a ___' and end with 'Thank you'. Practice saying each phrase out loud before your next visit.

في الدرس ده هنتعلم إزاي تتكلم مع الدكتور لما تكون مريض أو تعبان. الدكتور بيسألك What's the matter؟ يعني إيه اللي حصل معاك، وإنت لازم ترد وتوصف اللي إنت حاسس بيه بكلام بسيط.

الصفات والأمراض المهمة

الأعراض بتتكتب كلها بنفس الطريقة:

  • I have a headache = عندي صداع (وده لما راسك بتوجعك)
  • I have a stomachache = عندي ألم في المعدة (لما بطنك بتوجعك)
  • I have a fever = عندي حمى (لما جسمك سخن)
  • I have a cold = عندي برد
  • I feel sick = بحس إني تعبان

القواعد النحوية (Grammar)

١. تركيب "I have + المرض": في الإنجليزي لما تيجي تقول "عندي" بنستخدم I have a وبعدها اسم المرض. مثال: I have a headache (عندي صداع). مثال تاني: I have a fever (عندي حمى). لاحظ إن كلمة ache بتتقال لما يكون في ألم في عضو معين زي head (راس) أو stomach (معدة).

٢. سؤال المدة "How long?": الدكتور لما يسألك How long? يعني من إمتى وإنت كده. ترد بإجابة بسيطة: For two days (من يومين)، أو For one week (من أسبوع). لاحظ إن بنستخدم for قبل المدة.

٣. النصيحة "You should + فعل": لما الدكتور يديك نصيحة، بنستخدم You should وبعدها الفعل في صورته الأصلية. مثال: You should rest (لازم ترتاح). مثال: You should drink lots of water (لازم تشرب مياه كتير).

٤. الأمر "Take + حاجة": الدكتور ممكن يأمرك بحاجة، فبنستخدم فعل الأمر take (خد). مثال: Take this medicine (خد الدواء ده).

  • نبدأ المكالمة بـ Good morning, doctor أو Good morning
  • ونختم بـ Thank you, doctor عشان نكون مؤدبين

You will hear a real conversation between a doctor and a patient. The patient is a young man named Ben. He does not feel well, so he goes to see Dr. Lee. Listen carefully — you will answer questions about what they say to each other.

Before you listen, think: what questions does a doctor usually ask? Doctors often ask 'What's the matter?', 'Do you have a fever?', and 'How long?'. Try to listen for the answers to these questions. The doctor will also give advice at the end of the conversation. Listen for words like 'medicine', 'rest', and 'water'.

الدرس ده عن زيارة الدكتور. هتلاقي مريض اسمه Ben راح يكشف عند Dr. Lee لأنه مش حاسس بنفسه كويس. المحادثة بينهم بسيطة وفيها أسئلة وأجوبة كلاسيكية بتتعمل في عيادة الدكتور.

الجمل المفتاحية والي لازم تركز عليها

سؤال الدكتور الأول:

  • "What's the matter?" يعني "إيه المشكلة؟" أو "إيه اللي بيألمك؟" — دي الجملة اللي بيبدأ بيها أي دكتور لما يشوف المريض.
  • "Please sit down" يعني "اتفضل اقعد" — مهذب ولطيف.

رد المريض:

  • "I feel sick" يعني "أنا حاسس إني تعبان/مش كويس". الفعل هنا feel بيتكلم عن الإحساس الجسدي.
  • "I have a stomachache and a headache" — لاحظ القاعدة المهمة: لما نتكلم عن وجع في مكان في جسمك بنستخدم have + noun زي have a headache (صدري)، have a stomachache (معدتي بتوجعني)، have a backache (ضهري).

سؤال تاني مهم من الدكتور:

  • "Do you have a fever?" يعني "عندك سخونية؟" — سؤال بyes/no محتاج do/does.
  • الإجابة: "Yes, I have a small fever." لاحظ small قبل fever — في الإنجليزي بنحط الصفة قبل الاسم.

السؤال عن المدة (المهم جدًا):

  • "How long have you been sick?" هنا الدكتور بيستخدم زمن اسمه Present Perfect مع been — ده زمن بنستخدمه لما الحاجة بدأت في الماضي ومستمرة لحد دلوقتي.
  • "For three days" يعني "من تلات أيام". كلمة for بنستخدمها مع المدة (يومين، أسبوع، شهر).

نصيحة الدكتور في الآخر:

  • "Take this medicine twice a day" — لاحظ الفعل في صيغة الأمر take + twice a day (مرتين في اليوم).
  • "Drink lots of water and rest at home" — lots of معناها "كتير من".

السؤال المهذب في الآخر:

  • "Should I come back next week?" — بنستخدم should لما نسأل عن نصيحة أو رأى.

أول ما تسمع المحادثة، ركز على الإجابات مش الأسئلة. اسمع الأرقام والمدة والإجراءات اللي الدكتور طلبها. ده هيساعدك تجاوب صح.

Today's sound is /θ/, the 'th' you hear in the word think. This sound is very common in English, and you will use it a lot when you talk about health — for example, throat, teeth, and thank.

To make the /θ/ sound, put the tip of your tongue between your top teeth and your bottom teeth. Your tongue should gently touch your teeth. Then push air out softly. Your voice is OFF — only air comes out of your mouth. Feel the air on your finger when you say it. Your top teeth stay on your tongue the whole time.

Look at the table of words below. They all start with the /θ/ sound. Practice each one slowly, then say it again faster. Listen to yourself and check that your tongue is between your teeth.

صوت الـ /θ/ - الـ "th" اللي بتعملها من بين سنانك

إيه هو صوت الـ /θ/؟

ده صوت مهم جدًا في الإنجليزي، وكتير من اللي بيتكلموا لغات تانية بيلاقوه صعب في الأول. الحروف th بتتقال في الإنجليزي بطريقتين مختلفتين: مرة بصوت (voiced) زي كلمة the، ومرة من غير صوت (voiceless) وده اللي بنتكلم عنه النهاردة واسمه /θ/.

إزاي تعمله ببقك؟

عشان تقول الصوت ده صح، اتبع الخطوات دي:

  • حط طرف لسانك بين سنانك العلوية والسفلية بهدوء. لسانك يلمس الأسنان من بره، مش لازم يدخل كتير جوّا.
  • سنانك العلوية تفضل على لسانك طول ما بتتكلم، ما تشيلهاش.
  • اطلع هوا خفيف من بقك من جنب لسانك، من غير ما صوتك يرنّ. يعني زورك مطفي.
  • لو حطيت صباعك قدام بقك، هتحس بالهوا بينزل عليه - ده اختبار حلو إنك بتعمل الصوت صح.

جرب على كلمة think

دي الكلمة الأساسية. تخيل إنك بتفكر في حاجة. حط لسانك بين سنانك، واطلع هوا وأنت بتقولها: th-i-n-k. لو سمعت هوا خفيف من غير رنين، يبقى تمام.

كلمات تانية بالصوت نفسه من درس الدكتور

في درس النهاردة "See a doctor"، هنشوف كام كلمة بتبتدي بـ /θ/ وكلها ليها علاقة بالصحة:

  • throat - زورك، الجزء اللي جوه رقبتك. لما تقول My throat hurts معناها زوري وجعني.
  • teeth - سنانك. لما تروح للدكتور ممكن يقولك افتح بقك عشان يشوف سنانك.
  • thank - تشكر حد. بنقولها لما الدكتور يساعدنا.
  • three - رقم تلاتة. ممكن الدكتور يقولك خُد تلات حبوب.
  • thin - رفيع أو نحيف.

لو بتغلط في الصوت ده

أشهر غلطة إنك تقول "t" أو "s" بدل "th". ده بيحصل لما بتنسى إنك تحط لسانك بين سنانك. نصيحتي: قول الكلمة ببطء الأول، ركز على مكان لسانك، وبعدين لما تحس إنها مريحة، زوّد السرعة شوية شوية.

Reading strategy: Find the key words. When you read about health, look for the names of illnesses like 'headache', 'fever', 'cold'. These key words tell you the main idea quickly. You do not need to understand every single word. Look for the key words first, then read the sentences around them.

Here are four key words for this lesson. They are common in health messages:

  • headache (صداع) — pain in your head
  • fever (حمى) — when your body is very hot
  • medicine (دواء) — pills or liquid you take to feel better
  • rest (راحة) — to sit, sleep, and stop working for a while

You will read a short email from one friend to another. Look for these key words as you read.

النهارده هنتعلم حيلة مهمة جداً لما نقرأ أي حاجة عن الصحة أو المرض. الحيلة اسمها Find the key words يعني "دوّر على الكلمات المهمة".

إيه هي الـ Key Words؟

هي الكلمات اللي لما تلاقيها في أي نص، تفهم الموضوع على طول من غير ما تقرأ كل كلمة. مثلاً لو قريت كلمة headache في رسالة، هتعرف فوراً إن اللي بيكتب بيتكلم عن وجع في دماغه. مش محتاج تفهم كل كلمة — بس الكلمة دي كفاية تفتحلك الباب.

الكلمات الأربعة اللي لازم تعرفها في الدرس ده:

  • headache (صداع) — لما راسك بتوجعك
  • fever (حمى) — لما جسمك بيبقى سخن أوي ودرجة حرارتك عالية
  • medicine (دواء) — أي حاجة بتاخدها عشان تخفف الألم أو تعالج نفسك، زي الحبوب أو الشراب
  • rest (راحة) — إنك تقعد، تنام، وتبطل شغل شوية عشان جسمك يتعافى

كلمة rest ممكن تتقال كاسم زي في الجملة "I need rest" أو كفعل زي "I need to rest"، وده حاجة شائعة جداً في المواضيع الصحية.

إزاي تطبق الحيلة؟

أول حاجة، اقرأ النص بسرعة كده وابص على الكلمات دي. لو لقيت fever مثلاً، اعرف إن الكلام عن حرارة. بعدين ارجع اقرأ الجمل اللي حواليها عشان تفهم التفاصيل. الفكرة إنك تاخد snapshot — صورة سريعة — للموقف من غير ما تتعب نفسك في كل كلمة.

لو قريت الجملة دي:

I have a headache and fever, so I take medicine and rest.

حتى لو مش فاهم كل حاجة، تقدر تستنتج إن الشخص تعبان، بياخد دوا، وبيرتاح. شوف، أربع كلمات بس فهموك الموقف كله!

دلوقتي روح اقرأ الإيميل اللي تحت، واستخدم الحيلة دي. متقلقش لو فيه كلمات مش عارفها — ركز بس على الـ key words وهتفهم الموضوع في ثواني.

إزاي تقرا الإيميل ده بطريقة صح

في الدرس ده هتلاقي إيميل قصير من Anna لصاحبتها Sara، وهو بيتكلم عن موضوع بنمر بيه كلنا: لما نكون تعبانين ومش قادرين نروح المدرسة أو الشغل. بس قبل ما ندخل في الكلمات والقواعد، لازم تعرف إن في طريقة ذكية تتعامل بيها مع أي نص في الإنجليزي. الطريقة دي اسمها skimming و scimming.

Skimming يعني إنك تمر على النص بسرعة بعينك عشان تاخد الفكرة العامة بس. بص على العنوان و أول جملة و آخر جملة. مثلاً من الإيميل ده، العنوان هو Not feeling well، يعني مش حاسة بيها كويس. وآخر جملة بتقول Can you send me the homework, please? يعني محتاجة الواجب. كده أنت فهمت إن الرسالة من واحدة تعبانة وبتطلب حاجة بسيطة.

Scanning يعني إنك تدور على معلومة معينة في النص. مثلاً لو السؤال بيقولك: What does Anna have?، ساعتك بتدور على كلمة have في الإيميل وتلاقي الجواب بسرعة.

كلمات مهمة من الإيميل

  • have a cold = عندها برد
  • have a headache = عندها صداع
  • have a fever = عندها سخونية
  • took (take في الماضي) = أخدت / راحت
  • medicine = دوا
  • rest = ترتاح
  • still = لسه
  • tired = تعبانة

قواعد مهمة

1. have / has للمرض: في الإنجليزي بنستخدم have مع الضمائر I, you, we, they، وبنستخدم has مع he, she, it. مثلاً: I have a cold، و She has a fever.

2. Past Simple (الماضي البسيط): الإيميل بيحكي عن حاجة حصلت امبارح، فاستخدم الماضي. مثلاً: My mother took me to the doctor. الكلمة الأصلية take بتصير took في الماضي.

3. need to + verb: معناها "محتاج إنـ". مثلاً: I need to take medicine يعني محتاج آخد دوا.

4. for + مدة زمنية: بنستخدمها مع الوقت. مثلاً: for three days يعني لمدة تلات أيام.

5. still + صفة: معناها "لسه" وبتيجي قبل الصفة. مثلاً: I am still very tired يعني لسه تعبانة أوي.

خد وقتك في الإيميل، اقراه مرة كده بعينيك الأول عشان تاخد الفكرة العامة، وبعدين اقراه تاني بهدوء عشان تلاقي التفاصيل. بالتوفيق!

زيارة الدكتور – إزاي تتكلّم عن صحتك

في الدرس ده هنتعلّم إزاي تقول للدكتور إيه اللي بيوجعك. الجملة الأهم في الموقف كله هي "I have a ___"، يعني "عندي ___". وبتحط مكان الفراغ اسم المرض أو الألم اللي عندك.

الطريقة الأولى: I have a

ده أبسط شكل، وبيتكوّن من: ضمير I + فعل have + أداة المعرفة a + اسم المرض.

  • I have a headache. (عندي صداع)
  • I have a fever. (عندي سخونية)
  • I have a stomachache. (عندي وجع في معدتي)

تقدر تجمع أكتر من مشكلة في جملة واحدة زي ما عملنا في المثال: "I have a headache and a fever."

الطريقة التانية: My ___ hurts

لو عايز تقول جزء معيّن من جسمك بيوجعك، استخدم التركيب ده:

  • My head hurts. (راسي بيوجعني)
  • My stomach hurts. (بطني بتوجعني)
  • My back hurts. (ظهري بيوجعني)

السؤال عن المدة: How long?

لما الدكتور يسألك "How long?" (من إمتى كده؟)، لازم ترد بكلمة For + المدة:

  • For two days. (منذ يومين)
  • For one week. (منذ أسبوع)
  • For three hours. (منذ تلات ساعات)

Using simple sentences. A good sick message has four short parts: 1) Say you are sick, 2) Say what is wrong ('I have a fever'), 3) Say what the doctor told you ('I should rest'), 4) Ask for help if you need it ('Please send me the homework'). Use 'I have ___' for the problem and 'I should ___' for the advice. End with 'Thank you' and your name.

ده الجزء بتاع الكتابة في درس "See a doctor". هتتعلم هنا إزاي تكتب رسالة قصيرة للمدرس لما تكون عيان ومش قادر تروح الحصة. المهارة دي مهمة جداً وهتحتاجها كتير في حياتك، فلازم تركز.

إزاي تبني الرسالة؟

الرسالة الكويسة ليها شكل بسيط، كل جملة فيها قصيرة وواضحة. اتبع الخطوات دي بالترتيب:

  • التحية: ابدأ بكلمة Dear وبعدها اسم المدرس، زي "Dear Mr. Ahmed" أو "Dear Ms. Sarah".
  • إنك عيان: قول "I am sick today" أو "I cannot come to class today".
  • إيه اللي فيك: استخدم التركيب "I have + المرض". أمثلة شائعة: a fever (سخونية), a headache (صداع), a stomachache (وجع بطن), a cold (برد), a cough (كحة), a sore throat (التهاب في الزور).
  • إيه اللي قاله الدكتور: استخدم التركيب "I should + النصيحة". أمثلة: rest at home (أرتاح في البيت), drink water (أشرب مية), take medicine (آخد دوا), stay in bed (أفضل في السرير).
  • اطلب المساعدة: قول "Please send me the homework" أو "Please give me the work I missed".
  • الختام: اختم بـ "Thank you" واكتب اسمك.

الاتنين الأهم في الرسالة:

  • "I have ___" عشان تقول المشكلة: "I have a fever and a headache."
  • "I should ___" عشان تقول النصيحة: "I should rest at home for two days."

مثال كامل من Tom:

لما تكتب رسالتك، اتبع نفس الترتيب. متكتبش جمل طويلة، استخدم نقطة (.) بين كل جملة والتانية، وافتكر تحط اسمك في الآخر.
