Now you will practice talking about how you travel. The most useful phrase is 'I go to (place) by (vehicle).' For example: I go to work by car. or I go to school by bus.

To ask a friend, you can say: 'How do you travel?' or 'How do you get to work?'

You can also use the verb take with public transport. We say I take the bus, I take the train, and I take the subway. We do not use take with car — for a car, we say I drive my car.

To say what you do every day, add the word usually: I usually walk to school. This means you walk almost every day.

Look at the dialogue. Tom and Emma talk about how they travel. Then you will practice speaking the same sentences.

إزاي تتكلم عن المواصلات بالإنجليزي

في الدرس ده هنتعلم إزاي نسأل ونجاوب عن وسائل المواصلات اللي بنستخدمها كل يوم. الموضوع بسيط بس ليه قواعد مهمة لازم تعرفها كويس.

السؤال الأساسي

لو عايز تسأل صاحبك بيروح شغله إزاي، تقدر تستخدم سؤال من اتنين:

  • How do you get to work? يعني "إزاي بتروح الشغل؟"
  • How do you travel? يعني "إزاي بتتنقل؟"

الإجابة الأساسية

القاعدة الأهم في الدرس هي: I go to (place) by (vehicle).

ومعناها "أنا بروح (المكان) بـ (وسيلة المواصلات)". شوف الأمثلة:

  • I go to work by car. (أنا بروح الشغل بالعربية)
  • I go to school by bus. (أنا بروح المدرسة بالأتوبيس)

الفرق بين take و drive

دي نقطة مهمة جداً. بنستخدم فعل take مع المواصلات العامة زي الباص والتريين والمترو:

  • I take the bus.
  • I take the train.
  • I take the subway.

لكن مع العربية بنستخدم فعل تاني وهو drive:

  • I drive my car.

مينفعش أبداً نقول "I take my car" - دي غلطة شائعة لازم تبتعد عنها.

كلمة usually

لو عايز تقول إنك بتعمل الحاجة دي كل يوم أو معظم الوقت، ضيف كلمة usually قبل الفعل:

  • I usually walk to school. (عادةً بمشي للمدرسة)
  • I usually take the bus. (عادةً بركب الأتوبيس)

كلمة usually معناها "غالباً" أو "في العادة" وبتوضح إن ده الشيء المعتاد مش مرة واحدة بس.

ملخص سريع

  • للسؤال عن طريقة التنقل: How do you get to work?
  • للرد: I go to (place) by (vehicle).
  • للباص والتريين والمترو: استخدم take
  • للعربية: استخدم drive
  • للعادة اليومية: ضيف usually قبل الفعل

Listen to Tom and Emma talk about how they travel.

  1. T
Tom Hi Emma! How do you get to work?
  2. E
Emma I take the bus. I take the bus every day.
  3. T
Tom I drive my car. Do you like the bus?
  4. E
Emma Yes, I like it. But the subway is faster.
  5. T
Tom I never take the subway. I take the train sometimes.

In this lesson, we talk about how we travel every day. There are many ways to travel. Some are vehicles, like car, bus, train, taxi, plane, and subway. Others are actions, like walk and ride a bike.

We use the word by with vehicles: I go to school by bus. We can say by car, by bus, by train, by plane, or by taxi. For walking and biking, we usually do not use by. We say I walk to school or I ride my bike**.

Look at the table. Each word is a common way to travel. Read the example sentence for each word. Then you will see the words in the practice steps.

  • I go to work by train every day. (بروح الشغل بالقطار كل يوم)
  • I go to school by bus every morning. (بروح المدرسة بالأتوبيس كل الصبح)
  • My father drives by car. (أبويا بيقود عربية)

استثناء مهم

مع walk و ride a bike مش بنستخدم by خالص! بنقول الفعل مباشرة:

  • I walk to the market. (بمشي للسوق)
  • I ride my bike to work. (بركب العجلة وبروح الشغل)

جملة من الدرس للتمارين

I go to work by train every day.
