We use adverbs of frequency to talk about how often we do something. The most common adverbs are always, usually, often, sometimes, and never. They have a special place in the sentence.

Look at the pattern:

Form	Example
Subject + adverb + main verb	I always check my email.
Subject + be + adverb	She is always online.
Adverb at the start (less common)	Sometimes I watch videos.

The adverb goes before the main verb. It goes after the verb to be (am, is, are). Never is a strong word — it means 0% of the time. Always means 100% of the time. Usually, often, and sometimes are in the middle.

Here are some examples with technology:

I always use my phone in the morning.
She usually watches videos at night.
They often play games online.
He sometimes reads the news.
We never download music at school.

الـ Adverbs of Frequency هي الكلمات اللي بنستخدمها عشان نعبّر عن قد إيه حاجة بتحصل في حياتنا. يعني عايز تقول إنك بتعمل الحاجة دي كل يوم، ولا ساعات، ولا خالص؟ الكلمات الأساسية اللي لازم تعرفها هم خمسة: always (دايماً)، usually (غالباً)، often (كتير)، sometimes (أحياناً)، و never (أبداً).

القاعدة الذهبية: فين بييجي الـ adverb؟

الحالة الأولى: لو عندك فعل عادي (يعني أي فعل غير to be)، الـ adverb بييجي قبله مباشرة:

I always check my email in the morning. (أنا دايماً بشيك الإيميل بتاعي الصبح)
She usually watches videos at night. (هي غالباً بتفتح فيديوهات بالليل)
They often play games online. (هم كتير بيلعبوا ألعاب أونلاين)

الحالة التانية: لو عندك فعل to be (يعني am, is, are)، الـ adverb بييجي بعده مش قبله:

She is always online. (هي دايماً أونلاين)
We are never late. (إحنا أبداً مش متأخرين)
He is sometimes busy. (هو ساعات بيكون مشغول)

يعني إيه كل كلمة فيهم؟

Always = 100% من الوقت (دايماً، من غير استثناء)
Usually = حوالي 80% (غالباً، معظم الوقت)
Often = حوالي 60% (كتير، بشكل متكرر)
Sometimes = حوالي 30% (أحياناً، مش كل يوم)
Never = 0% (أبداً، خالص، صفر)

نصيحة للتمارين اللي جاية

قبل ما تحط الـ adverb في أي جملة، بص على الفعل الأول:

لو فعل عادي (check, watch, play, read, download) → حط الـ adverb قبله.
لو is أو are أو am → حط الـ adverb بعده.

كمان خلي بالك إن never كلمة قوية جداً، معناها إن الحاجة دي مش بتحصل خالص. و always معناها إن الحاجة بتحصل في كل مرة من غير أي استثناء. لو حفظت الترتيب ده، هتلاقي التمارين سهلة جداً إن شاء الله.

Listen to a conversation between two friends, Maya and Leo. They meet at a café and start talking about technology. Maya is curious about Leo's online habits. She asks him about his phone, his email, and his favorite activities online.

Before you listen, think: What do YOU do online every day? Do you check your email in the morning? Do you watch videos at night? Do you play games with friends?

As you listen, pay attention to the adverbs of frequency: always, usually, sometimes, never. Notice where they go in each sentence. For example, the adverb usually comes before the main verb. This will help you understand the conversation and use these adverbs yourself.

Listen for the adverbs. They tell you HOW OFTEN people do things. Always = 100%, usually ≈ 80%, often ≈ 60%, sometimes ≈ 30%, never = 0%.

إزاي تسأل عن العادات

لاحظ إنها استخدمت Do you ever عشان تسأل لو الحاجة بتحصل أحياناً. الإجابة ممكن تكون yes أو no، وممكن تضيف always, usually, sometimes, never.

Today we look at two similar sounds: /s/ and /z/. They sound almost the same, but they are different in an important way.

Put your hand on your throat. Say 'sssssss' — your voice is OFF. There is no vibration. Now say 'zzzzzz' — your voice is ON. You can feel buzzing in your throat. /s/ is voiceless. /z/ is voiced.

Look at these two words:

use /juːs/ — voiceless /s/
uses /juːz/ — voiced /z/

The 's' in use is quiet. The 's' in uses has a buzz. We add -s or -es to verbs when the subject is he, she, or it.

Voiceless /s/	Voiced /z/	/ɪz/ (extra syllable)

Does the verb end in a voiceless sound? Then the -s is /s/. Does it end in a voiced sound? Then the -s is /z/. Verbs ending in -ch, -sh, -s, -x, -z add -es and say /ɪz/: watches, uses, searches.

صوت الـ /s/ جوّا الـ /z/ — إزاي تفرّق بينهم؟

أهلاً بيكم يا أصحاب! النهاردة هنتعلم حاجة مهمة جداً في الإنجليزي، وهي الفرق بين صوتين بيبانوا متشابهين أوي للأذن، بس حاسس بيهم زورك مختلف خالص. دول الـ voiceless /s/ والـ voiced /z/. خلينا نعرف الفرق ده إيه وإمتى بنستخدم كل واحد فيهم.

الخطوة الأولى: حطّ إيدك على زورك

عشان تحسّ بالفرق بين الصوتين، حطّ إيدك على زورك وقول "sssss" — هتلاقي إن مفيش أي رعشة خالص. صوتك مطفي، يعني الحبال الصوتية مش شغّالة. دلوقتي قول "zzzzz" — هتحسّ بحاجة بتدبّ في زورك، زي ما فيه نحلة بتطير جوّاه. ده معناه إن صوتك شغّال. الـ /s/ بنقول عليه voiceless (من غير صوت)، والـ /z/ بنقول عليه voiced (مع صوت).

القاعدة الذهبية للـ -s في الأفعال

في الإنجليزي، لمّا بنتكلم عن he أو she أو it، بنضيف -s أو -es في آخر الفعل. خلينا نشوف إمتى بنطقها /s/ وإمتى /z/ وإمتى /ɪz/:

لو آخر الفعل voiceless → بنقول /s/. أمثلة:
use → uses — خلي بالك، كلمة use لوحدها بتنطق /juːs/ والـ s فيها هادية
look → looks (/lʊks/)
help → helps (/helps/)
stop → stops (/stɑps/)
لو آخر الفعل voiced → بنقول /z/. أمثلة:
uses (/juːz/) — هنا الـ -s بقت /z/ عشان الـ "e" قبلها voiced
like → likes (/laɪkz/)
play → plays (/pleɪz/)
go → goes (/ɡoʊz/)
read → reads (/riːdz/)
لو آخر الفعل -ch, -sh, -s, -x, أو -z → بنقول /ɪz/ (سيلابل زيادة). أمثلة:
watch → watches (/wɑtʃɪz/)
wash → washes (/wɑʃɪz/)
search → searches (/sɝtʃɪz/)
miss → misses (/mɪsɪz/)

نصيحة أخيرة

ركّز على جملة "She uses the computer at school." حطّ إيدك على زورك لمّا تقولها — هتحسّ بالدبدبة في الـ /z/. كرّر ورا التسجيل بصوت عالي، وقارن صوتك بصوت الـ example. بالتوفيق!

Remember the rule: the adverb comes before the main verb. For example: I always check my email. NOT: I check always my email. With the verb 'to be,' the adverb comes after: I am always online.

When you talk about the internet, you use special words. These words help you describe what people do online. Today you will learn eight common verbs and nouns.
