In the speaking block you practise these words in a real conversation. The most useful question is What do you do in your free time? — this is the natural way to ask in British English. A short answer starts with I usually …, I often … or I sometimes ….

Here are the key phrases for this lesson. Try to learn them as whole chunks, not as single words.

Adverbs of frequency — usually, often and sometimes — usually go before the main verb but after the verb to be. Compare: I usually play football (before the verb) and I am usually tired on Monday (after am).

Listen to the model dialogue. Notice the order: greeting → question → answer → follow-up → answer. A good free-time conversation sounds like a friendly ping-pong: you ask, then answer, then ask back with How about you? or What about you?. When you agree with the other person, you can say Me too! — this is short, friendly and very British.

When you do the roleplay, try to:

start with Hi + name,
ask the main question,
give an answer with a frequency adverb and a time phrase,
ask a follow-up question with Do you like …?,
end with Me too! or That sounds nice.

Keep your sentences short and clear — A2 speakers do not need long answers. Two or three short sentences are perfect.

الموضوع: نتكلم عن الأنشطة بتاعة وقت الفراغ

في الجزء ده هتتمرّن على محادثة حقيقية عن الـ hobbies. الدرس كله مبني على سؤال واحد مهم: What do you do in your free time? — وده الطريقة الطبيعية اللي بتسأل بيها في British English لما عايز تعرف الشخص بيعمل إيه لما مفيش شغل.

إزاي تجاوب على السؤال ده

الرد دايمًا بيبدأ بـ adverb of frequency قبل الفعل. الأدverbs التلاتة اللي هتحتاجهم هم:

usually — يعني "غالبًا" أو "عادةً"
often — يعني "كتير"
sometimes — يعني "أحيانًا بس مش كل يوم"

مثلا:

I usually play football on Saturdays.
I often read books in the evening.
I sometimes watch TV after dinner.

قاعدة جرامر مهمة جدًا

الـ adverbs of frequency بتنزل قبل الـ main verb، بس بعد verb to be:

I usually play football. (usually قبل play)
I am usually tired on Monday. (usually بعد am)

لو حطيت الـ adverb في المكان الغلط، الجملة هتسمع غريبة للأذن الإنجليزية.

إزاي تخلي الكلام ماشي زي الـ ping-pong

المحادثة مش سؤال وجواب وخلاص — لازم ترجّع الكورة للشخص اللي قدامك. لما توافقه في حاجة، قول Me too! — دي جملة بريطانية قصيرة وودودة جدًا. ولو عايز تكمّل، قول How about you? عشان تسأله عن نفسه.

كمان عندك:

Do you like + -ing? — عشان تسأل عن hobby زي: Do you like reading?
That sounds nice. — عشان تعلّق على اللي قاله صاحبك

خطوات الـ roleplay

لما تيجي تعمل المحادثة، ابدأ بـ Hi + اسم، اسأل السؤال الأساسي، جاوب بـ adverb + time phrase، اسأل follow-up بـ Do you like …?، واختم بـ Me too! أو That sounds nice. خلي جُملك قصيرة وواضحة — في المستوى A2 مش محتاج جمل طويلة، اتنين أو تلاتة كفاية.

This is the main question of the lesson. Notice the word order: 'do' + 'you' + verb. Listen and repeat it in your head.

Welcome to Unit 2! In this lesson we look at the words and phrases you use to talk about your free time. 'Free time' is the time when you are not at school or work — the time for hobbies, sport, music and rest, the things you choose to do for fun.

In English (UK) we use the present simple to talk about things we do regularly. The form is simple: I / you / we / they + verb, and he / she / it + verb + s. For example, I play football, but She plays football. We also use verb + -ing after like, love and enjoy: I like reading or I enjoy swimming. A very common pattern is In my free time, I … — for example, In my free time, I read and watch TV.

Here are eight common free-time activities. Look at the table and notice the verb forms and the small words.

play football	We play football on Sundays.
listen to music	She listens to music in the car.
go to the cinema	They go to the cinema on Fridays.
cook	My mum cooks dinner at the weekend.
swim	I swim at the pool twice a week.
paint	He paints pictures in his free time.

Pay attention to the small grammar points. With play we do not need a preposition — we say play football, not play to football. With listen we always say listen to: I listen to music. With go to we use the + place: go to the cinema, go to the park. These small words are very important in English (UK), and they are different from Arabic, so listen carefully.

We often add a time phrase to make our answer stronger. Words like every day, in the evening, on Saturdays and at the weekend are very common. Try to use one of these time phrases when you talk about your free time. The next steps will help you practise these words and phrases.

كلام عن وقت الفراغ – Vocabulary Lesson

في الدرس ده هنتعلم الكلمات والعبارات اللي بنستخدمها لما نحكي عن الحاجات اللي بنعملها في وقت الفراغ، يعني الأنشطة والهوايات زي القراءة والسباحة والطبخ. كلمة free time معناها الوقت اللي أنت فيه مش في الشغل أو المدرسة، والوقت ده بتقضيه زي ما أنت عايز.

قواعد مهمة في الإنجليزي (UK):

أولاً، بنستخدم زمن Present Simple لما نحكي عن عادات وحاجات بنعملها بانتظام. القاعدة بسيطة جداً:

مع I / you / we / they: بنحط الفعل زي ما هو، مثلاً: I play football.
مع he / she / it: بنضيف s في آخر الفعل، مثلاً: She plays football.

ثانياً، بعد الأفعال like / love / enjoy بنستخدم الفعل + ing:

I like reading.
I enjoy swimming.

ثالثاً، في نمط مهم جداً وهو In my free time, I… وده بنحط بعده أي فعل من اللي فوق. مثلاً: In my free time, I read books and listen to music.

كلمات صغيرة بس ليها لزمة:

مع play مش بنحتاج حرف جر، بنقول play football مش play to football.
مع listen لازم نقول listen to، يعني I listen to music.
مع go بنقول go to the + المكان، زي go to the cinema.

Time phrases عشان الإجابة تبقى أقوى:

ممكن تضيف كلمات بتوضح الوقت، زي every day، in the evening، on Saturdays، أو at the weekend. مثلاً: I usually listen to music in the evening before I go to bed.

دلوقتي روح للكارتات اللي تحت، اسمع كل كلمة وجرب تقولها بنفسك!
