L'histoire

Max went to the library every Saturday. He loved the old wooden building and the smell of all those books.

One day, he found a small book on the shelf. It was about animals in the jungle. The cover was old and the pages were yellow.

When Max opened the book, he saw something strange. Someone had written notes in the margins. There were also little drawings of elephants and monkeys.

"I love this book," someone had written. "The elephant is my favourite animal."

Max smiled. The handwriting was small and tidy. He read the name at the front of the book. "Lily, 2018." That was five years ago!

Max sat at a table and read the whole book. He laughed at Lily's funny comments. He added his own note: "I like the tigers. They are so clever."

When he finished, Max put the book back on the shelf. He hoped someone else would find it and read Lily's notes.

"Maybe someone will write to me too," he thought happily.
